Dr. John Portwood, Jr.

DrPortwoodDr. John Portwood, Jr. has lived in the Baton Rouge area his entire life. His father practiced pediatric dentistry in Baton Rouge for 26 years, so John practically grew up in a dental environment. He graduated from LSU and furthered his career by receiving his dental degree at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry.

He belongs to various dental organizations and has received numerous dental honors. He is a lifetime member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. He has been President of the Louisiana Academy twice and has served nationally in numerous positions, ranging from education to finance. Dr. Portwood is also a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, and a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Portwood recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, the world's second largest dental organization. This national award has been given to only 30 dentists in the history of the organization and attests to the commitment Dr. Portwood has given to the advancement of general dentistry nationwide.  The Louisiana Dental Association also honored Dr. Portwood recently with its Distinguished Service Award for his service to dentistry. 

Dr. Portwood has been published in many journals and publications throughout the country and recently finished the book, You’ve Graduated, Now What?, that was distributed to every graduating senior dental student in the country. He has lectured to dentists throughout the country and is a frequent guest lecturer to the senior class at the LSU School of Dentistry, where he helps prepare students to begin their professional careers.

He is married to Sherrie and has three children. He is a sports fanatic and is an avid fan of LSU, the New Orleans Saints, and his beloved Boston Red Sox. In his free time, John loves playing golf and traveling.

Dr. Sabrina Portwood O'Shee

Dr. Sabrina PortwoodDr. Sabrina Portwood O’Shee has lived in the Baton Rouge area her entire life. She is the third generation of Portwoods practicing dentistry in the Baton Rouge-area. Dr. O’Shee is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. She furthered her career by receiving a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry.

Dr. O’Shee is a member of several dental organizations. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

She has been published multiple times in the journal for the Academy of General Dentistry. She has also been featured in articles for the LDA Journal for her work with pre-dental students at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry for initiating the Pre-Dental 101 program to help aspiring students become more familiar with the profession.

Dr. O’Shee enjoys volunteering her services to the Mission of Mercy Project (LaMOM) in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The project provides two days of free dental work for attendees.  She also enjoys volunteering her time with Habitat for Humanity.

She resides in Baton Rouge with her husband, Seth, and dog, Maxwell. She enjoys singing jazz throughout the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.
